FAQ

How many sessions are usually recommended?

Some people benefit from just a few sessions and others come in every two to four weeks over a year. It really depends on someone’s situation, goals and preferences. There is no set time frame so we can decide together what is best for you as we go.

Is Occupational Therapy covered by extended benefits?

Your plan may include occupational therapy, or you may have a health care spending account as a part of your benefits. Check with your extended benefits provider to find out if OT services are a part of your coverage.

OT is an eligible income tax deduction for some individuals. Please speak with an accountant about the particulars of your situation.

How does occupation come into my work with you? I’m happy with my job.

“Occupational therapists define an occupation as much more than a chosen career. Occupation refers to everything that people do during the course of everyday life” or that occupies their time. “Each of us have many occupations that are essential to our health and well-being. Occupational therapists believe that occupations describe who you are and how you feel about yourself” “If you are unable to do the things you want, or need to do, to live and enjoy your life, your general well-being may be affected” (CAOT.ca)
